Dragonfly and World
We are very proud to be hosting Tom Judd: Small Works.
Utilizing the same mixed media approach as his large work Tom Judd: Small Works is a wonderful overview of the artist style. The paintings display many of the Judd's recurring themes. Dragonflies, small birds, and landscapes all appear in these tiny jewels. There are also a series of portraits of dresses and one exceptional eggplant.
In “Dragonfly and World” (16’ x 12’ oil on collage, shown above) two dragonflies hover over a world map and what looks like aged wall paper. In the bottom left corner an art deco train and steam ship painted in cream move through a square of bright red. These out dated machines are a reminder of not only the pace at which travel used to pass but also the glamor once associated with it.
Tom Judd's work is displayed in Museums around the country (including the Philadelphia Museum of Art), he's worked on numerous public art projects, and is represented in many private and public collections. The Small Works show at Hudson Beach Glass is a chance to own a piece of this renowned artist's work.
The opening reception is from 5:30-9:30 on December 4th, 2009.
