We've been hosting our experiment for a month now and we've got some pretty interesting results. First of all, while during the experiment we became convinced that the stemless glass did warm your wine faster when I really went in and explored the data I found an interesting fact: people drink slower out of the stemless glass.
First let me go back and explain how we are gathering this information. Each glass has two lines on it.
The first marks where 4oz of wine reaches to. We fill to that line and take a temperature reading using our totally awesome laser thermometer.
Then we ask the Guinea pig (aka customer) to drink down to the second line that designates 2ozs of wine. We take a second reading and note how long it took the person to drink the two ounces. We repeat with the other type of glass.
On average, so far, people drink two ounces of wine out of a stemmed glass in 4 minutes and it takes them 5 with a stemless glass. The temperature of the wine rises 8.8 degrees with a stemmed glass and 10 degrees with a stemless.
So far the stemless glass has proved to be much more popular with only 1 out of 25 asking to keep the stemware.
While I think it is still to early to make any final conclusions it will be interesting to see if these statistics change as we move into August.
