From now until Christmas Glassblowing lessons are on Sale. So that means that our "Taste" class is now just $65 instead of $80. Our "Appetizer" class is just $130, that's a $30 savings. And our "Entree" class is $135 off. The only catch is you can't take your lesson until after January 10th when we're done making Christmas Ornaments. So if you've ever toyed with the idea of learning to blow glass, or know someone who has always loved the art form, now is the time to sign up for lessons. For details on the different classes scroll down.
A Taste
Paper weight making workshop. A quick
introduction to the shop, tools, and equipment. A couple of paper
weights will be made- initially clear and then out of colors of your
choice. This is great if you are not interested in pursuing glass but
rather want a chance to feel the heat.
1 Hour- usually $80 now just $65
An Appetizer
An
introduction to the shop, tools, and equipment. An initial foundation
of body positioning and further explanation of glass as a material. A
paper weight and other solid sculpture will be made. This is the
perfect way to get into the shop and begin to understand glassblowing.
2 Hours- usually $160 now just $130
The Entree
Three,
3 hour classes which take you from the very beginning through to making
your first cup. The first will be an introduction to the shop, tools,
and equipment. The student will be provided with an initial foundation
of body positioning and further explanation of glass as a material and
its possibilities. Initially, basic solid working sculptural skills and
a familiarization with the material will be covered. A paper weight
will be made. In the second class how to make a bubble and transfer it
to a punti (steel rod) and how that evolves into a cup will be
practiced. The third class will combine the previous 2 classes skills
with an open invitation for the student to get creative. If you are
ready to have fun and learn more about glass then this is the way to go.
3- 3 Hour classes- usually $720 now just $585

If
you already know a lot about glass we have plenty of opportunities for
you to learn more, either through apprenticeships, or private lessons.
Give us a call to discuss.
Because all of our classes are private we can offer them at a time that works best for you.
About the Instructor:
Jenna
Efrein graduated from Alfred University in 2009 with her degree in
Sculpture/Dimensional Studies with a focus in glass. She completed her
BA at The Evergreen State College in 1993. She has been working with
glass since 1989, blowing for the past four. Her work focuses on the
visual manifestation of the internal self as it might appear on the
external. Utilizing a variety of materials and performance she seeks to
create connections between herself and her community. Teaching is one
of the many avenues through which she accomplishes this.
Is there an age limit on the 'Taste' class? I'm thinking about getting this for my 12-year-old and myself as a bonding adventure.

Your son is just the right age to start learning glassblowing. Sean Gilvey, owner of Hudson Beach Glass Philadelphia, was 12 when he started assisting his father. If you want to take the class together I recommend taking the two hour class. One hour is cutting it a little short when there are two people in the class. The appetizer is on sale for $130 (the price is the same for one or two people) until 5pm on Christmas Eve. If you want to buy it over the phone give me a call. 267-319-1887.
Thanks, Emily Gilvey
