The Entree
Three, 3 hour classes which take you from the very beginning through to making your first cup. The first will be an introduction to the shop, tools, and equipment. The student will be provided with an initial foundation of body positioning and further explanation of glass as a material and its possibilities. Initially, basic solid working sculptural skills and a familiarization with the material will be covered. A paper weight will be made. In the second class how to make a bubble and transfer it to a punti (steel rod) and how that evolves into a cup will be practiced. The third class will combine the previous 2 classes skills with an open invitation for the student to get creative. If you are ready to have fun and learn more about glass then this is the way to go.

About the Instructor:
Jenna Efrein graduated from Alfred University in 2009 with her degree in Sculpture/Dimensional Studies with a focus in glass. She completed her BA at The Evergreen State College in 1993. She has been working with glass since 1989, blowing for the past four. Her work focuses on the visual manifestation of the internal self as it might appear on the external. Utilizing a variety of materials and performance she seeks to create connections between herself and her community. Teaching is one of the many avenues through which she accomplishes this.
