Holiday Ornament Making Starts the Weekend After Thanksgiving

Every weekend from Thanksgiving to Christmas you can make your own glass Holiday Ornament at Hudson Beach Glass. With the help of of one of our highly trained glassblowers you can create the Holiday Ball you've always wanted. After picking your color and pattern enter the glassblowing studio where we will help you form molten glass into a beautiful and unique Holiday decoration.

 

Children as young as 7 are welcome to join in the fun. Blow your own ornament is every Saturday and Sunday from 11-6. 

Please note that your ornament will have to cool overnight. You can either pick it up the next day or we can ship it for an additional charge. Making your own ornament costs $40 per ornament and takes about 15 minutes.

In Honor of Nova

 

As I approach the launch of UNLEASHED, the first murder mystery novel in my Sydney Rye series, I’ve been thinking a lot about my first dog, Nova. Nova was a giant wolf like creature the height of a Great Dane, the snout of a Collie, with one blue eye and one brown, who shed excessively, was aggressive toward children, and afraid of almost everything else. I adopted him from a pound in East Harlem when I was in my early 20s. Everything about the decision screamed mistake. But adopting Nova turned out to be for the best. Not only did he save my life one dark night in Brooklyn, he also inspired Blue, my character Sydney Rye’s dog. I never could have imagined such a wild, loyal creature without having known Nova. 

 

So as an ode to Nova and all great dogs waiting for new homes in shelters, Sean and I decided to host a fund raiser for PAWS. PAWS is dedicated to saving Philadelphia's homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals. They are also the only no kill shelter in the city. So come out on November 5th, drink some beer, watch live glassblowing, and take home an awesome paw print pint glass all in support of a great organization... and all great dogs everywhere.  

Tickets to the fundraiser are limited and include a glass to take home. 25% of all ticket sales goes to PAWS.

Pumpkins and Ciders

It's Pumpkin Time Again

 

We are having a pumpkin sale during our Hard Cider Tasting for Design Philadelphia
Saturday, October 15th, 6:30-8:30pm

Not only will you get to taste some of the greatest hard ciders available you'll also get a great deal on our glass pumpkins. Hard Cider is one of those often unappreciated drinks and we want to introduce you to two producers who are making some really exceptional ciders. Eleanor Leger from Eden Ice Cider is coming down from Vermont to pour her gold medal winning dessert wine. She is going to help pick the cheese to taste with it too. Yummy. Also, Shane Doughty, from Hauser Estate Winery is bringing Jack's Hard Cider, which is produced in the heart of PA fruit country near Gettysburg. Jack's is smooth and delicious.

So if you've never had hard cider or you think it's that sweet gross stuff kids drink then you have to come to this tasting! And if you already know the genius that is apples turned into alcohol you don't really need convincing, do you?

We'll be using our cordials and pint glasses for this event. You'll have a  choice to take home two cordials or one pint. You can see pictures below

Whiskey Tastings

Please join us for two unique and exciting whiskey tastings: April 29th and May 7th. Both tastings highlight our Double Telegraph Whiskey glass (pictured above) which retails for $50. If you've never attended a tasting then let me break it down for you real quick. You get to taste a variety of whiskeys with a wonderful bartender walking you through the nuances of each spirit. Meanwhile, Sean Gilvey (HBG Philly co-owner), will be in the studio demonstrating how he makes his unique Telegraph series of glasses. He'll probably show off some other cool moves too. Some Awesome New Glass

We are participating in the retail section of the Philadelphia International Flower Show and are excited to present a couple of really sweet, new horticulture related products.

 

DOMES

Our new glass domes come in two different diameters. They fit into our Wine Shoes and Ceviche Plates. Perfect for keeping your African Violets and like minded plants happy, they also work for keeping cheese on your counter, jewelry and treasures on display, and a million other things. What will you put under your dome?

The large domes will retail for $120 and the small will retail for $85, including the base.

VASES

Sean is making a lot of one-of-a-kind vases for the show. They will all be signed and range in price from $75 to $250.

Isn't the one with the stem just way beyond cool?

TERRARIUMS

We are also putting our stacking terrariums on sale. Usually the two piece terrarium retails for $1000 but we'll be selling them for $700 at the show.

There are a million ways to plant your terrarium and we can help you figure it all out. You can even move a new friend into your terrarium. Here is a picture of our fish friend, Coleman, in his abode.
