Our stem v stemless experiment is a totally unscientific but extremely serious experiment that hypothesizes that your wine glass does not need a stem.
The argument for a stem is that it keeps warm hands away from chilled wine. We here at Hudson Beach Glass believe that your fingers will not change the temperature of your wine at all. To prove this we are running an eight week experiment starting July 6th. Every Tuesday we invite people to "Join the Experiment" by coming to our studio and drinking wine from 6:30 to 8:30.
Each participant will drink one glass of chilled white wine from stemware and one glass from a stemless wine goblet. The glasses are hand-made in the only remaining crystal factory in the United States. We will take the temperature of your wine throughout the evening and record if a stem effects the temperature at all. At the end of the evening participants will get to take home which ever glass they preferred. The cost to join the experiment is $25. Tickets are sold in advance and can be purchased here or by calling the shop.
The results on temperature and preference will be published to our blog each week.
While the experiment is going on in the gallery we will have our Emerging Artist Series going on in the studio. We will be featuring 8 glass artist at the beginning of their careers who we think are really fantastic.
Let's say you don't like wine, and you think your glass does need a stem, and you don't need no stinking experiment to tell you otherwise. You can still come see our emerging artist work. The hot shop will be open to the public for the first and last hour of each artist demonstration. So stop by any Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30 or 8:30 to 9:30 and check out these great young talents.
