"Through the Looking Glass" opens February 5th

This First Friday we have a very cool and unique show opening. "Through the Looking Glass" is a mirror show by Brian Foster. The first time I went to Brian's studio I felt like I'd landed in my dream world. He's got a giant warehouse (former bakery) filled with all sorts of awesome junk. Antique slabs of marble share space with huge tree stumps, old prints, and finished dining room tables. When Brian showed me his mirrors I knew we had to do a show. As an artist, the garden and horticulture have always informed Brian's work. Combining natural images with vintage paper ephemera inspires him to create the beautiful graphics that are collaged on to one of a kind antique mirrors.

Brian Foster is a Philadelphia designer. His interest in floral imagery began in 1994 when he created a series of botanical studies reproduced from an antique herbarium found in London. Brian has never shown his mirrors before in a gallery setting and we are very proud to host this show.

We also will have new neon piece in our transom. This month Len Davidson is loaning us a neon sign from his collection. Len Davidson began collecting old neon signs in the mid-1970s and established the Neon Museum of Philadelphia in 1985. The Museum's mission is to preserve, restore and display classic neon signs for the public to enjoy. About 100+ neon pieces in the collection date to the 1950's and earlier. I don't know what he's bringing but I'm guessing it's going to rock.
